Alliance Battle Weekend
Simple question, has this weekend been worth the /facepalms?
Yes, I know the weekend isn't over yet but honestly after seeing the level of play I feel compelled to ask this. I have done a fair share of AB's during the time that the double points have been offered and it has been /facepalm after /facepalm...
Playing on the Kruzick side I have seen countless different strategies, and pretty much every single one has failed. Looking at the map, the Kruzicks have been pushing the Luxons back but I have no idea how. I think out of the battles I have played only 1 or 2 of them have the Kruzick won. Many times they just run around mobbing and not capping. Or they run into the Luxon mob and still don't cap.
So I ask you, both Luxon and Kruzicks, has this weekend been worth the /facepalm IF you have participated? Or would you rather have the AB weekends extended to cover JQ and FA as well?

Kruzick? Type Combo!
And, for some reason I haven't even felt like playing alliance battles this week...
But it seems like half of RA was there when I went for a single game yesterday.

"stop snaring me [water hexes] so i can kill you" - greatest quote i've heard all day, followed by:
"stop walking out my AoE i can't kill you otherwise NUB"
these amazing quotes (literally quoted word for word) make AB so much fun to me...definately worth those /facepalm moments IMO

I had a pretty good Etnaran Keys streak just now. Yes, I'm Kurzick. However, I also ran into a group that totally failed to hit the enemy monk despite multiple pings, and an ele with 0 energy storage and aura of the lich.
So you got unlucky. :P

I wish on double ab weekends they would just keep the map as Saltspray, so its a balanced chance of getting faction for kurzicks and luxons.

I am just about to win my 3rd straight game, but that is because we have had good teams that have not mobbed. So yes, it is if you get lucky and get good teams or you will get horrid teams...

I have played 15 matches so far and have 13 victories for luxon, i do not have a clue why the kurz are still in the luxon area. yes it is funny when people repeatedly get kicked out of groups for crappy builds and 4 of those said people make there on group and try to mob up with allies and just cause losses. The kurz do this quite often from what I can tell. /facepalm goes to the hyper sins without a freakin clue that suicide into mobs.

I've played about 15 games yesterday night and this morning, half of them successful. I'd always start saying "cap clockwise", to make sure people see it. Then there's communication, stating when a gate is cleared in Kaanai and we can go into the base, or when I see a luxon mob, or to explain to my group what I'm doing. And regularly reminding people to cap. I'm also using the fact that I can solo-cap, thus earning a few valuable seconds to cap shrines faster (but it's a dangerous strategy as I can be easily killed).
I know that sins will always target me, and quite often do kill me (it's not difficult), except when I've got monk support, or with a War shrine. Hiding in the middle of a meteor shower does look special .
Then there's team balance, all the nice wins were made with "balanced" teams (2 melees, me as ele, monk). Two amazing games: one in Etnaran where the lead was constantly changing until we reached 400 points and won by 50; one where we were loosing by 50 and came back to win by 3.
Back to strategy: over the years, I had the feeling luxons had an edge over kurzicks, but I've noticed a few luxons trying to sabotage games (I suspect it works in both directions). AB is lightly organised PvP, there's so much you can do. Communicate, cap, give directions to your group (use the radar). That's IMHO another kind of challenge that the other forms of PvP (and definitely PvE!).
EDIT: I also quite often give support to NPCs (e.g. monks) when they're attacked. It's only when I feel I can't flee and can get precious seconds to make sure the balance of capped shrines stays at our advantage (always keep an eye on the score and the map, the strategy is sometimes to know where to run first).

Played probably around 20 matches or so today.. probably won about 80% of those at the luxon fort map (can't remember name, lol). All I can say you need a good team and a leader that knows how to lead or your team is doomed. vent/TS always helps..
Anyway.. pugs is crap.. pugged a few times today as well.. lost every single match due every teammember just go whichever way they want.. it's so LOL

People. Though most of you are Kurzicks, keep in mind that Luxons do read these posts from time to time and some of the things you say are really hilarious. For example, "i would play AB but i despise the luxons so much i can't even step onto the same field of battle with them because i know the duels will not be honorable." THIS IS A GAME. Therefore, I hope that what you said was a huge exaggeration, or else that would mean something very bad about you and your life *cough *cough. That's all, enjoy the rest of the AB weekend, and I hope I will meet you on the same battlefield.

In my experience, Luxons dominate AB. They just seem much more organized, and when a weekend like this comes along I have the feeling that they turtle into their territory to score some easy faction.

I haven't played AB yet this event, but I did almost scream hard enough to break my own face when three teams I tried to get into in my alliance decided it would be a good idea to swap our only healers for nukers.

I've actually been having a lot of fun this weekend as a Kurzick in AB, but that's probably because my guildies finally convinced me to get on Vent
I'd probably be doing better for Kurz faction in JQ, but I think the Balt faction in AB this weekend is making it worth the forray.
Hope others have a good time too

I've been having a great time in AB. A-net must have finally put in enough servers, because the timer rarely runs past 2-3 mins (thank you, thank you). As for wins, well you win some and you lose some. just gotta take it in stride, plus the extra points are great. I think I got about 10 z-keys just on Saturday.
i have been with some great pugs, and some scattered ones. But it's all in fun, and always a good experience (i.e learn from other's mistakes...ummm...learn from MY mistakes )
In AB...or any of the competitive missions... 'tis always a good day to die, die, die!! As someone said in a guide somewhere, just think of it as a way of coming back with full health and full energy

Playing my Assassin, had two rangers chase me for damn near 2 minutes. Trying to chase me down when I had the the IMS buff from the ranger shrine. Retreated to my group for obvious reasons. Got called a coward for retreating to the group, people are so strange, it's as if they expect one to sit there and willingly die to them.
Also, something else that seems strange. Why is it that on any average day I can play AB and never lose a match? And yet as soon as we have a double faction weekend the Kurzicks lose lose lose >.<
